Well now I've added the story of how the railway came to be so . .

Well my Camberwick layout is 2ft 6ish UK prototype on 45mm gauge. Serving the villages of Camberwick, Trumpton and Chigley it was started by Lord Belborough with a small estate line that served several of the businesses on his estate. Lord Belborough persuaded the Trumptonshire Council that the County would benefit from expanding the railway so they adopted a gauge of 2ft 6ish as the Chief Mechanical Engineer saw the potential for acquiring a range of stock that could be regauged. So currently the T&C Light Railway & Navigation Company owns locos and stock saved from several closed railways. The Lynton & Barnstaple, Lew & Lyn (though they are perpetuating the rumour that Lew was exported to Argentina to stop anyone trying to buy it and regauge it back to 2ft).
The Welshpools little known third Beyer Peacock 'Vicount' and the twin to the IoM's Caledonia, 'Caledonian' ( though the crews liked her sister locos name better so keep painting out the second 'n').

And the latest work on the extension.
    Track all cut

The short passing loop is for freight or railcars.

Track removed and the base colour applied ready for more scenic work.

Now I had two perfectly good end plates for protecting the layout in transport but had another idea!
What if I made boxes that the sections slid into and could the actually support the layout when up. This makes transport easier as the boxes have wheels and no messing around un-bolting it taking it down and rebolting it into the carry plates. once the bolts are out it just slides into the crate. I made a minor cock-up here as I had intended and measured it to use 9mm ply so it matched the trestles height, got to B&Q and found the 9mm stuff was more like the jump ramp on one of our sadly gone carriers and chose some nice 12mm stuff instead. Result? Box is now 6mm higher than the trestles! Still all isn't lost as I'll slice up some 6mm sheet offcuts to make spacers on top of the trestles.
Two of these made up at around £80 total but as it protects and makes storage much easier I felt worth it. The two boxes are reinforced so the can happily stack on top of each other too if space is required.
Two boards go directly on top joined by one that links the two trollies, now the layout can be lined up in it's space and then the rest added.

It's 15x10 in Camberwick guise or 21x10 in Harz mode. Would love another BP but I've got the Harz and L&B leanings too which has diverted cash elsewhere a Lyn and Harz coaches too recently so better spend somet on the Boss. Tis like the roster department, always make sure you are ahead then bargains are greeted with a raised eyebrow rather than requiring a covert operation to arrive.

Only one more booking so far, for 2013! I'll bear you in mind you could always build a station to go instead of the fiddleyard, sort of double mayhem. John Penny keeps saying it needs signals so I keep asking what they do Roll On Floor Laughing

Just ordered a nice big box of blue foam to make some more buildings. Going to make a stone station building based on one of the two small L&B ones, possibly Chelfham, this will have a longer footprint than the current hut and will mean extending the platform onto the end board. I made the decision for two reasons, the Harz building will be bigger too so I have to extend the platform anyway and secondly it will fit with the L&B stock I'm slowly acquiring, then there's just that they are lovely buildings. That 3 reasons, It'll be comfy cushions next!

Well after the winter break work has started again on Camberwick, the final wiring is going in on the two new boards for the German extension and I've been working on stock.
I've been widening a Swift Sixteen well wagon to more closely match the goods stock I'm using on here. While I was building bufferbeams and staining the wood for the deck this turned up
She's actually G64 so Lord Belborough's line can't interchange directly plus he's already flying the balloon on the layout so I might have to change that for a little cameo with this.

Progress at last! wiring is complete and the point motors need fitting on the new crossover. The coaches in the loop are the proof test for the Harz version.

Only some minor layout progress, chopping up, sanding and spraying 135 platform edging stones with plastikote gotham stone effect paint. A few steps forward on stock and other bits though.
Here's my display boards to accompany the layout, there'll be three A3 size images on boards at each end of the layout, (both together here) Giving a bit of information on the Sud Harz line.

Now I've got two 2-6-2's one has turned into 6007 of the new build, which leaves a few holes for any other bargains
I've also completed the modification to the smokebox door so one has the number in the more recent position below the handrail.

Actually a photo on Klein Arosa but it gives an idea of the locos on SHE

and finally a bit of a digital doodle with what could be done with a couple of cheapy chinese 2-6-2's to make a loco inspired by the Sud Harz mallet seen below it.
