Hope you don't mind this suggestion Don, but why don't you bend some pins out of wire? Because, as sure as eggs is eggs, if wasn't for the pop rivet, you would not be able to tell that the pics weren't from the 12" to 1' world. So realistic. Those skips are just brilliant and the greenery is so spot on. Made my day seeing those shots!

Suggestions always welcome,  Mick, Thanks for the complements. Have done some pins out of cooker earth wire.
I think I started using rivets after I started losing the pins & links when turning wagons over to lubricate axles.
I now use the rivets with a small hole drilled in the flange (?) & a small screw into the buffer beam, so each wagon always has link in it that cant get lost. I agree with you, it would look better.
I suppose I could use copper wire & bend the bottom end over to stop them coming out
But that is a rountuit job!

PS I usually leave wagons in rakes & set on tracks with a cassette type carrier made from rain guttering

Close up of railing end, retaining barrier just springs out of gutter

That carrier's a neat idea! I know what you mean about the pins - I made a stock of spares for my railbus 'cos I was always loosing them.

Carriers? We don't need no stinking carriers, we make our own.
What a great idea!! And as the new phrase goes, you have certainly "Re-purposed" an uneeded item.

what a Balmy, ( barmy?) winter, we had a first scattering of hailstones on friday, first air frost this morning, Sunday.

heres pic from this morning 9.45am in bright sunshine ( well the sun was bright, but not yet on the garden)
Early pink Azaelia on the right, Fuschia & Antirhinum on left
Looks like no traffic has been around into the cutting for a week or two.   Real Big Smile
