Kent & North Wales Light Railway: New Boy
18/12/11 06:58 PM
( permalink)
After finally becoming a member of the G Scale Soc., here I am on G Scale Central as well. The Kent & North Wales Light Railway is an indoor live steam layout, based here in Alsace, France. As the name indicates, half of the layout is modelled on the south of England, the other on North Wales. Best simply to give you the Youtube link and let anyone who´s interested have a look. http://www.youtube.com/user/KandNWLR?feature=mhee Interested in talking to anyone on the same planet!

Wow!!!!!!!! What a stunning railway!!! Live steam indoors too. The rocks look fantastic. Love the Portmeirion scene too, we've stayed there several times. I always thought that a branch from the Ffestiniog at Minffordd to Portmeirion would make a great layout. You are most welcome to the forum with a railway like that, please post LOADS of photos. Sorry, can't guarantee which planet most of us are on.

That's very impressive. Nice slow speed as well. Does the upper circuit represent North Wales and the lower one Kent?

What can I say - wow. Superb. Amazing. Be careful with the gas indoors though!

One half of the layout is Kent, the other North Wales. The two halves are connected by the bridges you can see on the videos. I´ve tried to keep the slate on the Wales side, the chalk on the other. Worked out more or less ...

Brilliant layout. Loved the Welsh rocky scenery. How do you keep it fireproof?

A lovely layout and like others here Portmeirion is a favourite place. Being a Prisoner fan I was looking for Rover and some Mini Mokes on the beach. A great railway. Thanks for letting us see it. Be seeing you!

New video of a Regner "Vincent" making its way through Kent, passing the newly planted trees before crossing the bridge to North Wales and following the harbour branch line past the new warehouses, with a view of the village of Portmeirion in the background above the upper loop with new trees too. But apparently we´re no longer allowed to post URLs here on the forum, so I just invite you to check out the K&NWLR on Youtube, if you have the inclination. P.S. Only managed to set fire to one locomotive this week .... getting better every day!

Hope that the insertion of the video link worked. It should lead you to the most recent video with a Regner "Willi" pushing the camera truck around the upper loop a couple of times, offering a view (where the lighting permits) of the new buildings and tree planting, as well as occasional glimpses of a Regner "Vincent" hauling a slate train around the lower loop.
