Tonight I decided to have night off from buildings, and constructed another wagon, after all you cant have shunting puzzle with nothing to shunt. This is what's underneath the short wagons, a single LGB twin axle bogie. which has a plasticard base built on top of it to support the wagon body. The couplings are fixed to this base as well.

Then a neater frame is added round it and painted black.

Next the body was built from balsa and plasticard cut into strips.

an arial view confirms I can get 2 wagons in the front line clear of the points.

Finally I have converted one to black and white to see if i could get a half decent shot with what Ive got made so far.

The answer would appear to be yes, although personally I would say it was completely decent Real Big Smile

Other events in the shed, during the week I bagged a 1965 Fiat 500 in 1/24 of ebay for a fiver. It makes the layout look bigger due to its small size, the prototype only has a 6' wheelbase.

                getting a close inspection

A couple more guys have appeared too,

Finally the flat wagon has had coat of paint

Tonights update... Well last night I started work on a guards van, but as it was all made from white plasticard I didnt bother posting any pictures as as always an all white model shows up very little detail in a photograph. Tonight I progressed it along far enough to give it a quick blast of cream paint so it is a bit more photographable ... I also added a screenshot to the lap top (I sense a caption competition) The white box van got a blast with the cream to as it had never been painted before. And finally one of the best things about building a new layout is learning the best angles for photographs so a couple of pics from different angles ... just for fun.

BUT I can see this railway is going to have some terrible problems with that Union Rep with the finger !!!!!!!!!

Last night I continued on with the guards van, I wanted a tail light but with no track power to use the van needs its own batteries. I didnt want them inside as that would mean a removable roof, so they had to go underneath. I also was mind full that the van would have to run veranda first on departure as there is no turntable, so I needed a light at both ends. To overcome this I fitted a switch with a centre off position, so either or neither lamp can be on. The switch will be on the backside so not seen from the viewing side of the layout. I realise that the unlit lamp wouldn't be there but life is a list of compromises. The Guards van and to box vans have also had some weathering.

Spent the afternoon working on the joint area which involved having the layout outside to put it together and ensure the scenery matched! I have been concerned aboot hiding such a large "hole in the sky" where the trains leave to go to the sector plate. The original plan was to have a pipe gantry but I decided after some playing that I could fit a a single carriage way road bridge. See what you think

Then some testing was required with a video of course..
