Entertaining video, thanks. Real Big Smile
The finale and your location made me remember John Axon GC.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Axon

By coincidence I'm in the middle of reading the Foxline publication featuring the line between Whaley Bridge and Buxton which features several pages on the accident at Chapel-en-le-Frith South resulting in the deaths of John Axon (the driver of the runaway train) .....

By further coincidence I saw the class 150 Driver John Axon GC  at Wigan last night, and wondered who he was. Clearly, a railwayman of the first order.

Started the platform today. I've made it out of all weather (gypsum) board, 6mm thick. Two layers brings it to just below (0.5mm) rail level. The sheets have a different finish on each side. One side is smooth and the other textured. I've used the textured side uppermost. A coat of mucky green acrylic paint gives it a base colour  . Then it's down on bended knee  to scratch the lines for the flagstones.

Scratching completed and a little light distressing to the surface. You can see the textured nature of the surface in the first picture.

Humbrol matt black was thinned using white spirit and then liberally applied over the surface and the colour soaks into the scratches.

A couple of coats of matt varnish add a bit of protection from the weather. A white wooden fence along the back edge to segregate the goods road and a small waiting shelter should help set the scene.

Been busy playing testing. I finally got all three points electrified today. Makes shunting even more fun Thumbs Up

      A few pics

First I needed a waiting room and small ticket office so started to build this

      Tried it in situ (unpainted)

Got more rockery/alpine plants so here's a couple of pics in the spring sunshine

Made some white picket fencing (coffee stirrers)

Waiting Room/Ticket Office painted in the 'Company' colours - primrose yellow and brown

Just got to add the roof and lighting. More pics tomorrow Real Big Smile.

              More progress.

The roofs on the 'shed'. All I need now is some thin roofing felt to cover it with.

Damn - I could have sworn that lamp was vertical when I planted it.

Looking from t'other way. The neighbours wall on the left [they let me paint it the same colour as mine as they never see it Real Big Smile] will eventually have a low relief warehouse stuck to it with a loading dock - the raisin d'etre for the goods siding.

So in this view the blank wall behind the station will have a (hopefully) imposing building stuck to it.

              Dusk descends.

Never ceases to amaze me,the difference in  progress, from the start of a long thread,to the latest pics.Having not been on here in ages, your thread is very interesting, and the railway looks great.
