Hi  Mike
Not  too  fussed  on  livery  as the  loco(s) will probably  subject  to  repainting!!Thinking

But perhaps  not  so  scruffily  as  this  one!!!

Hi Steve,

I have a  u25b aristo in t he sante fe paint,  I have converted it to my wireless system, but I have not yet got around to painting it as a New haven or Rock Island loco yet, if you get get any of these and you dont want, I can swap the body only, but as I have modified the frame seriously, that is not on offer,  I am also looking for an FA/FB set to buy, but not sante fe as it is so hard to repaint.

regards pete.

Hi  Pete

I  have  actually  got  a U25B on  its  way  to  me  as  I  write \New  from  a  dealer  and  ti  comes  woth  a  free  long  caboose!!

BUT  I  know  of  a   LGB  F7 A+B  in   Black widow  livery,  for  sale I have  not  seen it  but  it  is  apparently in  MINT  condition,   it  has  a  Massoth  decoder  fitted,   and  is  not  exactly  cheap  but if  you  deduct  the  retail cost  of  the  decoder,   the  unit  is  on  offer  for  around  50%  of  the   advertised  discount  price of  the NEW  F7 release  due  this  year ( In  SF  Freight Livery)

Thanks for that , I am only wanting NYC or rock or NH as I have half an abba set need to complete that, I only have three more locos on my shopping list , then I run out of excuses to own them hahaha!!

I repainted a RS3 into NYC black and never ever again will I try to repaint a Santefe silver paint scheme again, its almost impossible.

I have been out side until 8 pm soldering track bonds, am frozen thro  I need a shrink methinks

best regards   Pete

You had to paint an RS3 to NYC black, why not just get the real thing

It's one I picked up early on, already fitted with on-board battery pack, charger and radio control

Mr  Spock  Pete
Goin' off topic   here  a  bit  but  when  i  started  with  G  scale in  '76,  I  started  to  bond  rail  joints,  after  doing  a  few  yards  I  realised  it  was  a  totally  mind blowing  &  tedious  job,  so  I  gave  up  and  left  the  rail  joints on  the  rest  of  the  line  which  represented   another  90%  unbonded, just  simple LGB  rail joiners,  Graphite  paste  hadnt been invented  either  then ( well at  last not  for   train use!!!)

That line  lasted  for  around  5  years  then  we  moved  house,,  during  the  5  yrs,the line  continued  to  function  well, no  continuity  problems,  (except  on  a couple  of  yards  which  I laid  solidly in  concrete, this  was  quickly   revised  to  loose  laid  track in  ballast!! like  the  rest  of  th e  system)

I did  notice  that  within  a  couple  of  years  with  the  passing  of  2  winters  most  of  the  track  bonds  had  become  unsoldered anyway, with  the  effects  of  the  weather.

At the  new  address   I had  a  garden  line  which lasted  for  14+ years,  again  no track bonding,, although  Graphite  paste  was  used,  this  worked  well,  and  the  lines  I  build  today  continue  to  do  so,  I  never even  consider  bonding!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From  my  recent  experience  in  scouring  the  retailers  for   USAt  &  Aristo  Diesels,  I would  say  that  stock  availability  is  very  poor  at  the  moment,  with  very  few locos  being  available off  the  shelf,   the  situation  is  very  different  to  a  couple  of  years  ago  when  there  was loads  of  stock  available off the peg  in  the  UK.

The  recession has  meant that  retailers  have  sensibly  not  repalced  their  stock  until  things (May) improve, retailers offer  to  obtain items  but  with   the  £/$ situation  the  UK  price   would  not be  too attractive,  And  the  same  situation exists  if   direct  purchase  from  US retailers is  made.

Did you ever find an RS3? I have two here (bought as a pair). Since im just starting out I would be quite happy to sell / swap one for something else. Variety is the spice of life n all that

Pardon me for butting in on Steves wants,

I may be interested in another RS3 if its black and NYC,

I treid for more than six months to get one, and ended up with an Amtrack one that works very nice, it is now back to black.

I must have been looking in all the wrong places.

I never bothered with bonding on the last railway, but I am doing certain areas so the locos can recharge on sidings when standing still, I rarely if ever clean the rails either as I find a few runs around soon polish the rail, and as most my wheels are iron or steel, its almost pointless as they rust overnight ,  yes the links do fall apart with climate change, and I only use the fishplates as a guide for when the rail expands. The only other plus point to me for bonding is the fact the rail becomes part of the aeriel for the receiver,  so the range is extended around corners and not so reliant on line of sight.

I've got an NW-2 I'm open to offers on..  (I still can't decide what to repaint it as)

Definitely in need of a repaint, a previous owner having redone it in Fret SNCF livery with obvious enthusiasm, but perhaps not so much experience.  It could also do with a  service, but I have all the parts here, so it'd get that before leaving the premises.  At the moment it has hook&loop couplers only, but the knuckles are available as spares if you wanted them
