What's your longest?? - 08/03/10 09:51 PM ( #1 )
Hi All,

Maybe because I am still young in G Scale years I am a bit obbsessed about BIG stuff...

In 2010 my debut layout is going to be heavily reworked to both expand and upgrade to sweeping curves only- primarily so I can have long trains!! Mwah ha ha ha....

My best on the currently windey hilly Cogges Railway is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efCXU3MD6pk

Oh and don't all go on about being into little realistic narrow gauge trains etc etc... you all must have tried to make a whacking long train at some point when the 5 year old in you came out. It's time to share it with the world!

The only rule is that you were there to see it- no youtube clips you've found when bored. Extra marks for little engines with long'uns!!

I await vids and pics of yummy g scale trains!

Ian

It's not the length of your train that counts, it's what you do with it Thumbs Up.

My bloomin' big loco's usual load is 30 opens 10 vans and a brake.
This was taken at a fellow members layout, try not to get a crick in the neck.

PS if you need a clue to find the loco take a look at this enlargement.

If you put any of those long trains on my track you could couple the loco to the last wagon and have a magic roundabout. Real Big Smile

I have run longer trains on my own line than this, but it was the event that surprised - at GHWood's line, December 08, we had a double header, one loco ran out of gas - and my Jackpulled the lot, on Mike's, er , 'undulating and curving' line!  DLJ was there too, and we were all amazed the Jack could run a train of this weight!

The Harz 0-6-0T might be a small loco but it can certainly haul a long train up the spiralsThumbs Up

Well done Keith Kent

I am amused to see the modern intermodal behind the 0-6-0T. How I envy all you guys with the railways up and running. More than 3 years ago I bought a concrete mixer after chatting to Keith. It still has not done a mix. I was posted almost as soon as I got it.

Still one day! and boy when I can do it I will give you a long train!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! could be another 8 years yet! but have I got the stock and the engines!

It is really very encouraging for those of us without anything permanent to see you other guys beautiful railways/railroads. I have bought a load of track from Ash for a portable layout which I have finally started after about 4 years (kept promising Glyn G Scale Sussex). I have loads of LGB track I was going to lose but cant bear to part with after all...................

Please keep posting as many pics as you can, especially when I do not have to open them.

Keith have you got a class 66 like the ones we have down the bottom by Beachborough?

Cheers Clive

This is from Bigjack's, with the man himself and Mike also in the video.

And this attempt apparently didn't break the record either....
