Had another money saving idea this morning. If you check the new track plan, you will see that a set of storage sidings were included in the far corner of the garden. The original idea was to build a small deck like structure as a baseboard, which may have had to wait depending on how the budget worked out.

But then I looked out of the bedroom window and was thinking about what I was going to do with the 5 2foot square slabs I had left over. Et voila..........

This is very much a quick mock-up, I think I'll be able to make the real thing 4 slabs long (8') rather than 3. The sidings will just sit on the slabs so that they can be moved around and taken up as neccasary. One things for sure, it ain't never gonna go rotten!! And all for free using stuff that's left over Thumbs Up.

The ultimate plan is to build some sort of frame or legs for my engine shed diorama so that it fits over the top of the sidings, thus providing storage both for trains and locos.

Are those spare roofing panels I see in the background??????????

No, pull up all the track, put in rows of seats, and convert the shed into a PUNCH & JUDY stall. Then charge all who come to see the show, a couple of quid (it's more than I make at the back of Rackhams (local Birmingham joke)) With the money add a large tramway system!!!Roll On Floor LaughingRoll On Floor LaughingRoll On Floor Laughing Alyn
              P.S. its looking good.

Good to see the rapid progress, Mel (and a bit dispiriting, too... )

That viaduct is really nice - looks like it will be a great spot to photograph trains.

The "extension" looks positively huge Mel, compared to what was there before!

The viaduct is stunning, worth every penny methinks.

                    Sorry, no complaints.

You're not wrong there Matt. Very tempting to fill every last inch with track, but I'm determined to give it that rural narrow gauge feel. At least I can fit in some bigger curves, in fact the temporary loop that I've put in includes an R2 - a first for the WGLR!!!

Thanks for all the encouraging words chaps.
