I'm not sure if anyone is into 7/8ths' scale on this forum, but just in case, here is a little video of my basic Roundhouse Millie conversion and some simple scratchbuilt stock:

Ah, a Victorian NG steam loco, just the "right stuff" as I sit and sip an English Ale at the end of a busy work week.  Your vid post made my day!

What  great freight stock Chris, the more I see work like that, the more I like 7/8ths. Great loco too, loved it all. Love

Thanks guys - I'm glad you enjoyed it. This 7/8ths scale is so appealing!

You may have spotted that the loco is featured in this month's Garden Rail magazine. The rolling stock is in next month's and another loco - Betty - is in the one after that. You can see Betty here:

And apologies that the driver is going a little too fast!

              as mentioned so charming

              love the rear lantern too

something about the change of scale that makes it look so much more plausible -speed, exhaust

how tall is the driver in inches please?

                        brilliant as ever....

I am sure it isn't true but it seems you sit in tranquility playing with little steam engines all the time- which is what I wish I could do!

Now 1/12 th scale, now your talking!!!

                          only joking

7/8ths, and 1/12th,  usually done in narrow gauge,

is also very similar in scale to  standard gauge run on 5" track

which of course, due to bigger prototypes, is a lot bigger models,

for example on 5", a mainline coach of modest length say about 50 feet in the real world scales out at well  over  4ft in a model

which is why 7/8s & 1/12 is ideal for the smaller type engines & rolling stock

Steve - the Rob Bennett figures are 123mm to the top of their hats, which is about 4.9 inches.

Thanks for the comments guys! I like 1/12th scale too - and it is a lot easier to get stuff. The problem is that Millie is just a bit too small.......
