The DVLR has gone through many ups and downs during its life, eventually suffering a major decline, the track overgrown and the buildings demolished:

Recently a large seam of unobtainium has been discovered near one end of the line. The trackbed bed has been relayed and the infrastructure restored or re-built.

Yesterday the first train ran on the restored railway

The trains were so popular they ran well into the night

Bert the signalman had to work 'till early in the morning!
