Replacement radiator grills and fans for Aristo FA1
30/07/10 11:15 AM
( permalink)
Hi all. I am now looking at doing some round rooftop radiator grills and fans for the Aristo FA1 if there is enough interest??? These will be a simple direct replacement for the crude plastic grill and you can simply paint the etch to match your roof colour and glue it on without damaging the body. As always I need a show of hands from those interested so I can give the project the green light. Only a guess as yet but I reckon £10 to £15 per grill and fan set. The long side grills for the USA trains F3 units are underway now for those that were interested. Cheers Rob

Only need a few more FA1 owners to join in and it will get the green light. Anyone else want to inprove the look of theirs? Makes the roof look miles better and that's the bit we all have to look at the most! Cheers Rob

Trouble is I have to commission it and pay for the tooling before I have anything to show for sale, and I need the orders to see if its worthwhile before I can commission the job! However we are now up to 5 sets So I'm afraid you just have to trust my skills, look at the KM ML4000 kit elsewhere on here if you need to see proof of what I can do. I estimate I need about 10 to 12 orders so that it doesn't end up costing me money to help people out, this is not a money making excersize, I am just trying to help out some people that want some detail parts. So just let me know if any of you want the upgrade etch. below is a shot of the PA1 etched grill, the one I do will be quite similar to it but with better representation of the support bars and the lip surrounding the mesh. Cheers Rob

I got time today to start fitting my Grills and fans the etchings are superb, my camera wont pick up the detail in this sunlight, the fan and grills are spot on, its a shame to paint them The side grills are made for the F3 so need a little more work but not much, I forgot to get a tube of superglue yesterday so will leave them till monday night, but the difference is amazing, I need to add a lot more detail now in the engine rooms. as they are etched in Nickel Silver they have a lot more strength than brass, and I dont need to worry about picking up the loco and squidging them, compared to the original printed plastic items there is no comparison. Cheers Rob for an excellent bit of work, will be back for more, I will add more pics to the ABBA thread as I progress, Pete
