Now I am aware that these are not the best thing since sliced bread, but I have just aquired one at a reasonable price, second hand of course, but it is proving a bit troublesome. (Surprise!!)
When tried on DC nothing at all happened. I run HO DCC in my loft room, controllers of Lenz make. I tentatively cleared an area of rolling stock, put a length of track down and connected it to the layout. My eardrums were assaulted by high volume stationary loco sounds! I set the control for number 5 the number on the loco, but nothing else worked. I then coupled the track to the programming track and tried to reprogram the loco as No.5. The Lenz readout showed a short flash "p" to say this was accepted but still nothing, other than lots of noise!
I have now partially removed the "tender" to expose the insides. (See photo.) Also under the tender is a socket for a connection similar to a battery charger with a red led and a switch near the loco centre-line. (See photo)
My questions   --  Is this set-up familiar to any-one as a standard version?  Any ideas what may be wrong? Any suggestions for fault finding?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
PS Having said see photo, I find I don't understand how to do this. Any help for this too please?

Can't help with the loco it is all gobbledy gook to me. With regard photos it took me ages  to get the hang of it. When you post a message you go to the bottom & click on you may attach a file to this message. That will then open a new window with select box in it. Click on that & it will open in your documents (pictures?). You may have to open the file with the pictures you want.Click on the picture, click open & the file detail will appear in the select box. You can do this for each picture. Once you have selected your pictures click upload & they will be attached to your message. There is a size limit so if it fails try cropping or resizing the image.

Thanks for the help on images. I found something on this site regarding the same topic in some detail. Am now trying to find out how to halve the picture resolution to make it acceptable for the site. I hink my last attempt failed due to this problem.
        Thanks for your help.

Hopefully I have now got pictures to see. The underside view isn't too good, but the connector is at the bottom and the toggle switch above and to the right.
I look forward to your constructive comments. (Oxy acetylene is not available)

Thanks for your reply funandtrains. I had a close look at the soundcard and found "Issue 7 PH Hobbies" on it. I believe they no longer are in business. Does this give any more of a clue as to its set-up?
            Thanks for the help.
