I like my steam outline locos to smoke whenever they are in service......okay, so they aren't pulsed smoke
units that belch out as much smoke as a KM1 model, but the 24 volt units I have fitted to most of my locos give out a satisfactory amount.
Some of the loco's smoke units are permanently wired to track power, so if they are on the track they smoke.
If, for some reason, I don't want a loco to smoke, I just fill the smoke unit to the top, job done......then if I want it to smoke, either run it for an hour, by which time the heat has evaporated some off, or syphon a little off the top with the syringe (I used to use for my steamie Regner Stainz).
Yesterday's roster.............

I like all my steam loks to smoke when in service.
Most have a 24 volt unit permanently wired to the track.
They are not quite as good as a KM1 model which belches copious amounts of pulsed smoke, but they satisfy my requirements.
    Yesterdays roster out at Wieselberg...........

Well Paul a double post but we can never get enough of them. Good to see them steaming in the winter, I take all my buildings in during the winter as they are very exposed to the wind even if i screw them down bits blow off them. Role on the spring.

Brief sunshine earlier today so a train or two had to be run.
Rugens 0-8-0 and U Class 298.56 on duty today.

Thanks for your kind comments. My first sight of G Scale were of Charles Small's layout in August 1973 in Railway Modeller of Stainz and U Class locos, so if I can keep a reasonable collection of those two loco types, "That'll do for me"

Ah, Charles Small.  A man who influenced a generation.  Well, two of us at least..... Love
