Aristocrft BUDD RAILCAR

Does anybody own one, how are they, and as if you didnt know i'd ask, do they do r1 corners? Not bothered about it ever getting coupled to anything, so no worries about the coupling dragging stock off. This could be the answer to a passenger service on my railway.
SARCASM! What a wonderful thing!

I have an RDC1 but no sharp curves. If you had asked last week I could have tried it out on Watlep's. I'm sure it would have pulled more up the pootang pass certain other locos! If anyone has a line with some R1s near Birmingham I'll go and try it out. Thinking about it I took the RDC1 to Mbiff's and I'm pretty sure it made it round the R1s there but the overhang and underhang were large and it fouled a few trackside items on the R1s. The RDC 1 is about 3 foot long so its a big thing to negotiate such a tight bend. You could always build yourself a PPM50 like I did! Plans were in the Railway Modeller a few years back. Mine uses a USAT motor bogie and will go round anything.

They will not do R1's, doubt that they would handle R2's without modification. Due to limited lateral rocking ability of the truck mountings, they are very fussy about less-than-perfect track alignment. I must watch them carefully when I run them on my 8' and 10' diameter loops where LGB Rhb trains run flawlessly.

Andy Worsfold No but its on my wish list too! That well known Dragon establishment has a LIRR version on offer in his Chuffs section. £165 if I remember correctly.

I have just read the spec on the Aristocraft website , it needs a minimum of 8 foot radius curves according to them. I knew there was a reason why I didn't get me one of these! I have been wanting an alternative American stable of loco's for a while. Cheers Garry

You could always go for a lil eggliner - they are fine so long as you aren't worried about little things like being credible

Duncan_1984 Having just looked at the pictures of your railway, I'd say that the RDC is pretty much a no-no. Shame really, as its a nice model. It is looong and thats the main problem - it laid waste to a bridge support, three plastic people and a telegraph pole when I first ran mine.

Cheers Garry Aristo-Craft usually states curves as "diameter", atleast all the other items in the catalogue is specified with diameter. So 4' radius is likely. Edit... man I'm a slow typer

I think Jeremy @ Dragon is looking to stock HLW stuff, although all items have zero price on the web site which I assume means not yet!
