Tuxcraft Painted Engine Shed Review - T1039P
Tuxcraft Painted Engine Shed Review - T1039P.

First off thanks to all at Tuxcraft for supplying this engine shed for review for which I have now found a great home for now on the newly rebuilt Hagley Railroad.

This building which comes in both  painted or unpainted versions, with the painted one coming in at a very reasonable £40 and the unpainted £35 both of which are of very good value as these concrete buildings are just about bomb proof and have survived the weather, my little girl and a large dog doing their best to get the better of them.

The outside dimensions are length - 42 cm, width - 24 cm and height including raised roof section - 36 cm.

As this is a concrete building it has thick walls and the internal dimensions are slightly smaller with the length coming in at - 39cm. The height and width are restricted by the size of the engine shed opening which are width - 17 cm and height - 23 cm. This is wide and high enough to allow the LGB, Bachmann, Aristocraft and USA Trains locos I own to enter the engine shed with ease and will allow just about all the popular live steam engines to fit in including Roundhouse. This has been made possible by increasing the both height and width of the opening compared with the original version of the model that Tuxcraft produced.

I have found that the weight of this building means that you do not have to worry about finding a way of keeping this building down as it will happily sit and stay where ever you choose to place it on your railway. The windows are solid due to the way that Tuxcraft go about building their concrete range of buildings and I would not recommend trying to open them up as this would compromise the integrity of the whole building. This does not distract from the overall look of the building and then can still be light from either the inside or outside to produce a nice effect.

As all ways the painted effect on the version I have is of a high standard and really suits the model down to the slight blacking over the entrance where the steam or diesel exhaust fumes would of stained the real thing a really nice touch.

I now have several Tuxcraft buildings some now well over three years old and they still don't show any signs of cracking or paint peeling so I know that they are built to last and I always find that the team at Tuxcraft whether at a show, shop or on the net are very helpful and ready to help in any way that they can which is nice.
